Café Bar el Comercio

We were here 10/27 & 10/28. Most of the restaurants and bars were closed for the season or only open on the weekends for Madrilenos. The proprietor of our Hotel Rural Cayetano suggested we try this place as his partner owned the bar. This was definitely a family bar but everyone welcomed us. We were pretty hungry so we had a few house made croquetas that were rich and creamy, and a puff pastry with a savory filling of pollo y puerros which is chicken and leeks. It was delicious! I will attempt to recreate the recipe at home because I now crave it!The proprietor was a very fit and trim, bald, bespectacled man with a beautiful smile from Galicia. He spoke English very well! He never told us his name, but each time we asked someone, it sounded like a different name.
