Pyrenees Fly Fishing | Fly Fishing Guides in Spain

My wife and I had a wonderful time fishing with Adrian of Pyrenees Fly Fishing! It was early in the season in Alfarras, so it took a while for the fish to get active as the water warmed throughout the day. Adrian offered his arm to help my wife wade safely and was able to spot many trout. At lunchtime he served us a two course meal with wine! Pyrenees Fly Fishing also provided waders and fly rods for us. After lunch we found some trout that were feeding, and after trying many different flies, I was able to hook and land a true trophy brown trout. It was an unforgettable experience!

For many Americans - fly fishing in the Pyrenees is linked to Ernest Hemingway’s writing about his wonderful experiences in Spain. But even Papa H. would have been impressed with our three-day fishing adventure with the Pyrenees Fly Fishing outfitters - and our guide, Adrian. Punctual, professional and personable - he brought us into the mountains where we fished in pristine streams for zebra and brown trout. It’s always great to hook into a lot of trout, but our trip encompassed so much more than fishing. Adrian has local permits that allowed us to venture into mountain valleys filled with wildflowers and snow-capped peaks. He shared information about the history and culture of his region as well as provided delicious sit down lunches! But of course fishing was what we came for and Adrian knew where and how to put us onto fish! He provided technical advice for presentation of the fly and how to read the waters. He was patient and supportive, even when we lost a few! We traveled to five different venues - each unique and ended up on a river with the opportunity to fish for barbel, a local fish who like to fight! My husband hooked into several and Adrian expertly netted the big fish. We were completely satisfied with our experience. Our lodging (self-catering) guesthouse in the lovely village of Biescas was great and so were the meals that Ricardo, Adrian’s business partner reserved for us in local restaurants. We felt very lucky to have had this amazing experience in the Spanish Pyrenees. On their website, it states that, “Adrian and Ricardo are passionate anglers and lovers of the traditional way of life in the Pyrenees and will do their best to offer their guests an unforgettable vacation.” They do just that. Papa H. would have approved.

Adrian and the Pyrenees fly fishing experience is THE place to go in Spain. The trout are mostly small and all wild but there are opportunities to catch big big fish as well. The variation is great too, you fish tiny mountain streams where reactions are everything and you fish pools lower down on other rivers where you must stalk the fish and be deadly accurate with the dry fly. It’s a great test of reactions and extremely fun. Must have caught 20 fish in 3 days!

A Fabulous Fly Fishing ExperienceWe can scratch this one off of the “Bucket list”. I had a complete Hemingway experience with a combination of “The Sun Also Rises” and “ The Old Man and the Sea”. Adrian, our outstanding expert guide supplying the fly-fishing expertise along with the spectacular mountain views. I played the role of the “Old Man”. As a novice Fly Fisher, I had concerns about embarrassing myself with my lack of experience. Adrian immediately put me at ease with his kind, patient, engaging nature and excellent instruction. On this 3-day adventure, I caught several fish the first day and the fun continued for the duration of the trip. Adrian is an incredible instructor and was attentive to my every need… preparing the leader and flies, clearing the path, indicting where to cast, and netting the fish. My wife, an artist and non-fisher, was able to join us for 2 of the three days to enjoy the scenery and share in my dream. At lunchtime, Adrian found a scenic spot and prepared a three-course meal with wine, coffee and dessert. At the end of each flyfishing day, we returned to our beautiful hotel in Graus, a lovely small town filled with friendly, welcoming town’s people. This trip exceeded my expectations in every way… generating fond memories of the Pyrenees, the friends we made along the way, and the fly-fishing experience. Thank you so much Adrian.

If you want to fish in the Pyrenees, Adrian, Alejandro and Pyrenees Fly Fishing is the ticket. True pro's who know how to help you catch fish!! I am a salt guy from florida, but fish trout every chance i get and i have never fished more agressive trout in my life. I easily caught 35 fish in 2days. From booking to saying goodbye, Adrian is a class act! Alejandro is an all around outdoorsman - you can just tell. Alejandro helped my son who doesnt really fly fish catch 5 or 6 fish the 1st day. The place is magical and they have it wired. You need a minimum of two days... one for the high mountains and one for lower rivers w larger zebra trout! Look no further!

If you love fly-fishing in beautiful places with friendly guides, you must book a trip with Pyrenees fly fishing! My husband and I did a day trip at the end of August with Adrián, who was knowledgeable, kind, and a joy to spend the day with. Adrián can spot a trout almost immediately when he looks at the water, and he took us to an amazing river near Ordesa y Monte Perdido where we never saw anyone else fishing. We caught several beautiful native zebra trout throughout the day (and hooked several more!) and we strongly recommend Pyrenees fly fishing to anyone interested in an unforgettable fly fishing experience.

What an amazing trip with Adrian including incredible scenery. Four days of fishing catching around 80 fish. His knowledge and expertise enabled me to significantly improve all aspects of my fly fishing. I could not have enjoyed my trip anymore. Thank you Adrian maybe Cuba, Patagonia or Mongolia next !!!!

I had never been to Spain, but have always wanted to fly fish in the Pyrenees Mountains. I scheduled a three day fly fishing trip with Pyrenees Fly Fishing and the trip completely exceeded my expectations! Adrian was a fantastic guide and taught me not only about fly fishing in Spain, but about the Spanish culture and environment. Over three days I caught more than 100 fish. I caught zebra trout, brown trout and even caught six rainbow trout. This includes one very large brown trout. In addition to the excellent fishing, the food and lodging were amazing. I’m so glad I selected Pyrenees Fly Fishing to assist with the trip. Many thanks to Adrian for providing the trip of a life-time!!

My boyfriend and I recently returned from a day trip with Alejandro of Pyrenees Fly Fishing and it was an incredible and memorable trip. We have experienced several fishing guides across the globe and Alejandro is right up there as one of the top ones.Alejandro, was friendly, professional and kind. He was determined to get us onto fish and was patient when teaching me, a novice angler, how to read the water and where to cast when approaching each pool. My boyfriend, who is a more experienced fly angler, said that he took weeks worth of high mountain, dry fly fishing knowledge away from a single day on the river with Alejandro.We spent our day high up in the Pyrenees with stunning scenery and while the fish were smaller, there were plenty of them (30+ in a day). Lunch was also great. Alejandro whipped out a table and chairs up in the mountains right across from our fishing grounds and served us a 3 course meal complete with wine and coffee!To those wondering about fly fishing in the Pyrenees, my boyfriend and I would say that it is not a place you go to target large fish, rather, the overall experience, scenery, and exclusive fishing grounds that the fly company is able to obtain permits and access to is what makes this trip unlike any other in the world. Alejandro’s professionalism as a guide, combined with his attention to detail is what I would highlight when recommending this trip to any angler (experienced or not)!
