We used Tecnicos Asociados in Denia/Javea to purchase our house and car in Spain. We thought all went well with the purchase document, closing documents; etc, until recently, when we were presented with a bill for the seller's capital gains taxes on our purchase of his villa. In our documents it CLEARLY states that the purchase was to be free and clear of any liens, taxes or other incumberences owed by the seller. As it turns out, the seller's taxes due we're taken out of the purchase money, held by his attorney and never paid to the Spanish tax authorities, hence the bill was forwarded to us. We have communicated with Spanish lawyers, who we hired for the purchase and are awaiting their response.
