We tried to eat dinner here. The staff and owners acted as if they couldn't see us. We left and went back to our alburgue still hungry.

Estuvimos cenando aqui y genial. El personal es muy agradable. La comida es casera. Cenamos platos combinados, aunque tambien tenian menu.

Camping Camino de Santiago in Castrojeriz, BurgosOne's first impression is that much of the site is neglected and untidy. There are areas which have simply been left to go wild. Other areas where clearly no attempt to tidy the place up has been made. Yet it has a certain charm... though it has to be said that probably the main reason for staying here is that it is based in Castrojeriz and its surrounding lovely countrysiide. The town itself is well worth a visit and has a variety of places of interest. The information centre is staffed by a very helpful and informative gentleman and from the Information centre one can access the church ....well worth a visit...for 1.50€ per person. An excellent map of the town and surrounding areas is provided. As for the campsite...the pitches are small, mostly paired, some with a couple of trees dividing them, some with nothing at all. Privacy limited. You may require a very long lead in some cases for electrics. When one arrives, depending upon the time of day, Reception may be closed. A number is provided for contact. It may be some time...several hours...before anyone arrives. In the meantime electricity may not be available as they switch off the electrics and lock off the access to the switches...connecting them when you are finally booked in. A practice I have not encountered before in 46 years caravanning. The services are good although the showers are very dated. There are three showers in the men's block. One of the three had a poor shower spray connection such that when used the shower head spun out of control and washed the ceiling. The remaining two actually worked as intended. The water was warm and the water pressure good. But the showers are by far the worst feature of the campsite and need updating. Everything else was clean and functioning. There is a washing machine and drier and dish washing area, essential for campers, some of whom may be pilgrims on the Camino , which passes through the town. No site plan is provided. No signage of any sort. But a helpful and charming staff. We enjoyed our stay and were fortunate in being the sole occupants of a double pitch. Had we had some other caravan or large motorhome sharing what was a relatively small area our enjoyment may have been lessened. I would not discourage anyone from coming here. It is quiet and Castrojeriz makes the stay worthwhile. Would be happy to return and I recommend it...not least, as I have said, for its location in Castrojeriz. Did not use the restuarant. And the shop had a limited stock, probably reflecting the fact that it was early in the season. If recycling is a major concern for you then to be sure your efforts succeed you will need to use the bins in town. The campsite recycling provision is poor and is nowhere explained or signed. A not uncommon failing on campsites and in marked contrast to recycling practice and provision generally in Spain.

En mi opinión:NO ES LUGAR PARA PEREGRINOS. Tampoco lo recomendaría para clientes que no vengan hablando alemán.

Absolutely delicious food, whether it be the outdoor oven roasted lamb, the amazingly delicious wagyu steak or burgers, it's all fantastic. We loved the campsite, rustic and atmospheric with a great view of the castle.
